Dr. Akojie's Bio

 

Dr. Akojie began her career as a classroom social studies teacher in 1979 after earning a Bachelor degree in Secondary Education.  While teaching 12th grade Economics and AP Geography in Nigeria, she worked on a Masters degree and earned it 1987; M.Ed is in Educational Administration with specialization in Planning.  Dr. Patricia Akojie then rose to the position of the head of the Social Studies Department and later Assistant Principal.  The Akojies migrated to the United States in 1992 and Patricia continued her teaching career as a substitute teacher in Paducah City and McCracken Schools and later got a full-time position with Paducah Tilghman High school as a Social Studies teacher.  Dr. Akojie’s thirst for research got her back to the University walls to pursue a doctoral degree.  She earned her doctoral degree in Educational Policy and Evaluation from the University of Kentucky, Lexington in 2002.

 

Dr. Patricia Akojie started her career in higher Education in Students Affairs as a Hall director at the University of Kentucky and later an Educational Advisor for the Educational Talent Search Program at Lexington Community College in Lexington, Kentucky.  After obtaining her Ph.D, she started her college-level teaching career at Murray State University, where she taught mostly Research and Educational Ethics courses.  She also taught online course for the Orange Lutheran Online, Axia College, and the University of Phoenix Online and was an adjunct for the Louisville campus of the University of Phoenix.  In the fall of 2006 she joined Brescia University School of Education.

 

Patricia enjoys reading and loves spicy food.  She also loves to travel.  Talking about travel, she has been to five countries - Republic of Togo, Canada, Britain, Italy, and of cause Nigeria. Married to Dr. Felix Akojie, a Biology professor at WKTCC.  Patricia and Felix have four children.  All four are presently in college.
